Promotions

I have no idea what the system is for promoting people and from what I've noticed there isn't one. Does anybody know?

0-1 Months From Joining
Recruit
Probationary N7 Membership- Lasts at least one month

1-6 Months From Joining
Private
Graduated from probationary period.

6-12 Months From Joining
Private First Class
Automatic after 6 months clan membership, becomes eligible for staff assignment.

12+ Months From Joining
Specialist
Mostly made up of members who only wish to have fun and do not desire any leadership positions within the clan.

Billeted Ranks

These ranks are awarded concurrently with the appropriate staff position. All promotions from this point onwards are temporary for the first month. Inability to perform required duties may result in removal from staff position and transfer back to your previous rank.

Corporal
Automatic with assignment as Assistant Squad Leader

Sergeant
Automatic with assignment as Squad Leader

Staff Sergeant
Automatic after 6 Months as Squad Leader
Automatic with assignment as Company Staff NCO

Sergeant First Class
Automatic with assignment as Platoon Sergeant

First Sergeant
Automatic with assignment as Company First Sergeant

Second Lieutenant
Automatic with assignment as Platoon Commander

First Lieutenant
Automatic with assignment as Company Staff Officer
Awarded for outstanding service as a Platoon Commander

Captain
Automatic with assignment as Company Executive Officer

Major
Automatic with assignment as Company Commander

Although the Company Commander has final approval/disapproval authority on all staff appointments, this is how the staff positions are normally selected.

The Company Commander Commissions all officer billets and selects the Company First Sergeant, with input from the Company Executive Officer.

Platoon Commanders select their own Platoon Sergeants.

Platoon Sergeants recommend Squad Leaders to the Platoon Commander, who then approves and appoints them.

Squad Leaders typically get to select their own Assistant Squad Leaders.

To avoid large jumps in rank and "leapfrogging" as much as possible, empty billets will be selected from candidates from billets directly subordinate to the vacancy whenever possible (First Sergeant selected from available Platoon Sergeants, Platoon Sergeants selected from available Squad Leaders, etc...)

Promotions to staff billets are on an as-needed basis only. Members in staff positions may stay in their rank for months or years before subsequent promotions become available. The best way for them to advance in rank is to continue to recruit and train those subordinate to them. As the clan expands, so must the rank structure. This is what causes vacancies in the chain of command and allows exceptional N7 members to be promoted to positions of increased responsibility.
